What makes us special!
Our ProgramPlay Based, Child Focused
Our Aspirations For Our Children Are to Develop Positive Self-Esteem
We provide a play-based, child-focused early learning program for children; this fosters individualism, creativity, socialization, and problem-solving. Caledonia Early Care and Learning Centre are committed to providing exceptional childcare for the students and staff of the College of New Caledonia, as well as members of the Prince George community.
We provide an emergent curriculum through observations and documentation. This allows us to expand on the knowledge that the children are interested in and it allows you to see what your child is learning.
Our Team Commits to the Program
Our knowledgeable, professional team of caregivers offers resources, and programming to challenge children and support them in a fun, nurturing and safe environment. Our program has a focus on a natural play; providing natural resources and focusing on the outdoors, as well as bringing the outdoors in. We follow the philosophy of Reggie Emilia which is an educational philosophy focused on preschool and primary education. It is a pedagogy described as student-centered and constructivist that uses self-directed, experiential learning in relationship-driven environments. and the forest and nature schools.
The Growth of Our Children
Our aspirations for our children are to develop positive self-esteem and to learn to express their feelings and emotions. To learn to respect developmentally appropriate communication efforts, as well as respect individual differences. To support children in discovering choices, decisions, and solutions and to be motivated life-long learners by encouraging a sense of wonder.
We provide a healthy, safe environment which meets children’s physical needs, as well as, provide nutritious meals and snacks.
Parent Involvement
We encourage parent involvement in our programming. Our staff works hard to develop comfortable, ongoing communication with families. We strive to support families in developing and sustaining a healthy parent/child relationship. Our goal is to communicate openly regarding the individual child’s developmental strengths and needs.
We use a web-based program called Story Park to communicate with you, this program allows us to send reports on what your child is learning, photos and information on their activities, moods, food and much more.
Parent Handbook
We have all the details you will need to know contained in our parent handbook. The nuts and bolts of our organization.
This handbook has been prepared to offer you information, operational policies, and information on how your child’s daily needs will be met. This will be your reference to refer back on throughout the year.
